ARTIST GRANT, RESIDENCY, AND FELLOWSHIP DATABASES
1. Artist Trust While this is a Washington-based arts organization, its “Professional Resources” section lists grants available nationwide. www.artisttrust.org
2. Creative Capital Founded in 1999, Creative Capital is a unique and inspiring organization whose mission is to support artists pursuing adventurous and imaginative ideas, drawing on venture capital concepts to provide funding, counsel, and career development services. www.creative-capital.org
3. College Arts Association (CAA) CAA offers a database of awards, grants, and fellowships and a list of opportunities “for artists, scholars, museum professionals, educators, and other members of the arts community.” Also, through its own Professional Development Fellowship Program, the CAA offers artists a one-time $15,000 grant without contingencies. www.collegeart.org/opportunities
4. Foundation Center The nation’s leading authority on philanthropy. They publish numerous books on grant writing and grant seeking. The website offers a wealth of information on grants, funders, statistics, and more. https://candid.org/find-funding.
5. New York Foundation for the Arts New York Foundation for the Arts is an extensive national directory of awards, publications, and services—including fiscal sponsorship—for artists. This incredible resource is updated daily, and access is free. www.nyfasource.org
6. ResArt This organization has a comprehensive list of residencies. https://resartis.org/
When you find an opportunity that seems like a good match for you, bookmark the application site or print the application. No two applications are the same, so double-check each organization’s application guidelines. If any guidelines are unclear or you have a question, ask the organization to clarify!
